Hi, I’m K. I’m in my very early thirties, I live in central England with my wonderful husband, baby boy, and crazy rescue dog. Comment below and tell me about yourself 🙂
As long as I can remember I have suffered from a fast heart rate, and a severe dairy allergy, this is mostly managed well with avoidance and daily antihistamines however every so often I have the odd mishap resulting in epi-pens, ambulances and a whole lot of stress and worry for everyone around me.
In 2009 I suffered from several illnesses in fairly quick succession including glandular fever and whooping cough, after that I felt like I never recovered from the fatigue and was diagnosed with post viral fatigue syndrome, which after not resolving itself became a chronic fatigue diagnosis late in 2009.
Life ticked along after my CFS diagnosis and I was able to manage my day to day symptoms and live my life throughout my twenties, meeting my husband in 2012, getting married in 2014 and giving birth to our son in 2016.
After my son was born my fatigue levels increased significantly, as did my breathlessness and asthma, following a chest infection this culminated in having a call an ambulance on 15/01/2019 due to my asthma. As part of the checks they did an ECG and that was the first time I was asked the question “has anyone ever mentioned anything regarding abnormal ECG readings or heart conditions to you before?” following a brief conversation I was whisked off to the Heart and Lung centre of New Cross Hospital. After that followed 6 months is tests and worry and confusion until I was finally diagnosed with Heart Failure with Reduced Ejection Fraction (HfREF) on 09/07/2019.
This blog will detail my thoughts on my diagnosis, and chronicle my experiences with the various treatments available to me. Hopefully you will read along, maybe my journey will resonate with you and you will have the same issues as me, maybe you have your own perfect storm of crazy chronic illnesses to contend with, or maybe you know me in person and are trying to understand what is going on with me and how I am really doing. Whatever has led to you being here, you are very welcome, and I hope you stick around.
